How selection works

Total return = last adjusted close / first adjusted close − 1. CAGR annualizes that return using the actual elapsed days. Prices account for splits and distributions. Volatility and maximum drawdown use daily adjusted closes.

All candidates remain searchable. The ordinary stock screen requires about five years of continuous history, a positive five-year return, price of at least $5, average daily traded value of $2m over 60 sessions, market cap of at least $300m and acceptable listing status. Then we apply your experience, horizon and loss tolerance, plus company and sector limits. High past returns are not a measure of business quality or future growth.

Conviction Growth can also research matching companies with 1–5 years of continuous history, with small position limits. Their five-year columns stay blank. Space and cloud infrastructure use reviewed business mappings in addition to exchange categories.

Current listings omit delisted companies, so survivor bias remains. Backtesting a basket chosen using these same five years also introduces look-ahead bias. New listings and missing histories are shown without invented five-year figures.
